I mentioned to you all before that I was going back to school myself and that I would keep you updated on how it’s going and the work I create while in college. Well, I have some updates for you all!
I just finished my first class, which was Introduction to Art, and I passed with an “A”. I learned so many new and awesome things that I could not believe I hadn’t already learned. It is amazing how you can learn so much in just a short time. College is paying off already and I’ve only just begun.
I have just started my second class, Introduction to Photography Applications, and it is a handful already. My professor is very stern and fast paced, but I enjoy that! I dove right in and started completing my assignments. So far we have just gone over some basic things such as storing your files, creating certain file types, image sizes and qualities. Those things I already taught myself, but it was a good refresher.
We are now getting into the fun stuff! My next big assignment is to capture a couple self portraits of myself. One must be symbolic and the other figurative. For those of you who do not know; A Symbolic Self-Portrait is is a photograph of an object(s) or place that represents who you are or who you aspire to be and a Figurative Self-Portrait is a photograph of yourself that includes your face or another identifiable part of your body. I have been wracking my brain with ideas for my self-portraits and I think I have grasped my idea. I cannot wait to get started on this project!
Oh, don’t worry! Once I have completed the assignment I will be sure to post the photographs here for you all to view. And when I do, don’t be shy! Give me your feedback and how you interpret the photos.
Until next time… “Don’t shoot what it looks like, shoot what it feels like!” (Dorothea Lange)
